Hair is the one accessory that women sleep with and never take off. Bangs are exactly that accessory that make the look. A good fringe can frame the face, complement your eyes and flaunt your fabulous cheekbones.

The biggest thing right now—let’s face it—are Michelle Obama’s new bangs. She is an icon of modern style and owns the look each and every day.

There comes a time in your life when you feel like you want to make a change; a fringe is an easy one, and much less expensive than botox! Adding bangs is a way to add pop to your look without dramatically making changes you might regret. Think of it as a baby step. Before completely changing your hairstyle, adding the fringe sets a note of confidence and fashion without a huge commitment. You can still cut it short or color it purple in a few months if you still desire that attention grabber for yourself.

At Cutting Loose Salon, our professional stylists have created a step-by-step video on how to correctly cut your own fringe. Beware, some of those non-professional haircutting videos on YouTube can be dangerous to your health—well, at least to your look.

Always start with clean, dry hair when cutting bangs. Wet hair is heavy, which makes your hair appear longer and will make you cut too short.

Remember, a little goes a long way. Keep checking in the mirror so you don’t cut too much. You can always take more off, but you can’t put the length of your bangs back on.

Soon you will be “Fun, Fashionable and Fabulous!”
