Amanda Abizaid

Senior Stylist – Level 1

Flashback School of Hair Design. I knew I was an artist/painter and quickly found out how I could move my art from painting on canvas to painting on hair and faces. My school had a great opportunity for me to begin working with Brocato International while receiving my cosmetology hours to get my license. It was very inspiring to work with professionals in the industry and have an opportunity to work with a brand-new product company from the ground up so that got me excited from the start.

Stylist Q&A

What part of hairdressing do you love most?

A sense of family and community. Coloring hair and highlighting are the most fun for me. I love the community aspect of my clients and co-workers. I learn so much from other professionals, especially when the salon environment is well-managed and encourages a fun, creative atmosphere to learn and work in.

What about the industry that fuels you?

The ability to keep learning and perfecting my skills as a stylist and colorist. Doing hair is an art form and I love to be able to have a job that is creative especially when I get to work with hair color.

What is a fun fact about you, or something that you would want potential new guests to know?

My mom was a teacher/choreographer for synchronized swimming at the YMCA in Beirut, Lebanon where I am also from. She taught me how to swim and I finally got to be one of her swimmers on the team. I love to laugh and make my clients laugh. I walk the legacy trail while listening to spiritual guidance that keeps me centered. I love horseback riding.

What do you love to do in your spare time?

I am a professional singer songwriter and play the flute, piano and guitar. I write songs, record and perform my music live. I practice Buddhism and Bikram hot yoga. I LOVE to hang out with my cat. She’s my baby. 🙂 I love all animals and will always rescue injured or lost animals that I find that need my help.

What are your top achievements as a hairstylist?

Assisting Louis Licari and Oribe in their New York Salons and was a hairstylist at Oribe, South Beach and Stella Salon, South Beach. Working with Sam Brocato as a platform artist and educator. I’ve worked with many celebrities over the years in Los Angeles such as Sylvana Armani, Courtney Love, Stephen Stills, and many others. I’ve worked as a hair and makeup artist for several TV commercials for Propecia, Tempur-Pedic, and for artists such as Carly Rae Jepsen, Rod Stewart, and Marilyn Manson for their in-house and public music videos.
